Unauthenticated Homepage for better conversion

Many streaming services struggle to convert app downloads into paying subscribers. Users want to understand the service’s value before committing, while providers want identifiable users to drive engagement and subscriptions.  

Therefore, we have introduced the unauthenticated homepage: a new feature allowing you to surface the value of your service upfront, and to funnel users into a “Log in" or "Sign up” flow prior to accessing the service. 

The unauthenticated homepage increases the chance of capturing user information, while offering a glimpse of the premium content and subscription benefits - fostering a smoother user experience and paving the way for successful monetization.

How does this feature work? 

When an unauthenticated user launches the app, they will be greeted by a welcome page. This page allows them to sign in or register for an account to unlock the full experience of the service. 

For our Web platform, you have the option to create a rich experience around various types of content highlighting the benefits of your service together with prompts to sign up or sign in.

For TV and mobile apps, we provide a more scaled down experience allowing for a custom background image, a clear heading, and concise text that highlights your service’s value. Two buttons allow the user to either register/subscribe or log in quickly.

How to activate this feature

To set up this new feature, speak to your Customer Success Manager who will help you confirm if you are on the right app versions (and help you get an update if needed). They will also guide you through enabling the feature in Admin.

How to personalize this feature

In Accedo One Configuration you can upload a background image for the new page, and configure the text you want to display.

For the Web platform, you will also configure the new unauthenticated homepage in Editor - for example through promotional modules highlighting the benefits of your service along with clearly visible sign in and register buttons.

Finally, once you are happy with your set-up, you will activate the feature in your Configuration menu.
