Using editorial curation to add videos and shows to your containers is simple and straightforward but requires significant daily effort to add new content and maintain freshness.

To save time and effort, consider using dynamic feeds instead of editorial ones. Dynamic feeds automatically keep your content fresh without the need for constant manual updates.

How do dynamic feeds work?

The Accedo One platform stores comprehensive information about your videos, TV shows, collections, and playlists, along with all associated metadata such as publishing dates, genres, and tags. This data can be used to create filters to include or exclude content based on various variables, generating a feed tailored specifically to your needs.

How to configure dynamic feeds

First of all, choose “Dynamic Feed” when creating a container in Editor.

On the next page you will be asked to add a new rule, offering you to filter your video content by a multitude of parameters and metadata.

The availability of metadata depends on your video provider’s platform configuration, but some of the most popular options in practice include:

  • Actors/Directors: Showcase all content related to a specific actor or director.
  • Available/Playable From: Promote upcoming new content.
  • Available/Playable Until: Create a sense of urgency by displaying content that is expiring soon.
  • Genres: Display all content within a specific genre.
  • Content Types: Focus a container on specific content types, such as movies or TV shows.
  • Tags: Use tags in your video provider’s platform to further categorize and filter your content according to your needs. For example, you can filter by different territories for various service variations.

These metadata options allow you to tailor your content presentation to better engage your audience.

For example, you may want to create a feed for TV shows related to a certain actor, but exclude episodic content. Or you may want to display movies but no TV shows.

Sorting options

Before finalizing your dynamic feed, determine the number of items you want to display in your container (e.g., "20" in the example below) and select a sorting option.

Your sorting choice will depend on the type of container you are creating. For an A-Z list, order the feed by title, while an "Expiring Soon" container should list content items by their earliest expiration date.

Choosing between editorial and dynamic feeds

Editorial containers are ideal for highly customized featured content. For instance, use them for your hero container showcasing a few selected movies or a one-time manual curation chosen by a well-known affiliated actor.

For containers with repeatable, constantly updated content - such as genre pages, “newly added” modules or a “TV shows” list - dynamic feeds are the way to go.
